A Panchayat is a body of elected representatives of the people to administer the affairs of the Panchayat Raj institutions. In the case of a Gram Panchayat, it is the main body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and carries out the day-to-day administration. The main components of a Panchayat are: President: He is the head of the Panchayat. He presides over the meetings and supervises the overall activities of the Panchayat. Vice President: He assumes the responsibilities in the absence of the President. Ward Members: Representatives elected from each ward of the Panchayat. Standing Committees: These are sub-committees formed to facilitate decision-making, such as finance, development, welfare, health and education

History of Grama Panchayat

Aymanam is a region with a history in which legends and realities are intertwined. The main legend is that the name 'Aivar Vanam', meaning the 'forest of the five Pandavas', where the Pandavas stayed during their exile, gradually became 'Aymanam' through linguistic evolution. The present-day Aymanam Grama Panchayat was formed by combining Kudamaloor and Aymanam, which were under the rule of the native kings of Thekkumkoor and Chempakassery.
